  • Call or text the CalHOPE Warm Line: (833) 317-HOPE (4673) The CalHOPE warm line connects callers to people who have persevered through struggles with stress, anxiety, depression—emotions triggered by circumstances and events in everyday life. The peer counselors listen with compassion, provide non-judgmental support, and guide you to additional resources that can give hope and help you cope.

  • CalHOPE Connect

    CalHOPE Connect offers safe, secure, and culturally sensitive emotional support for all Californians who may need support related to stress, anxiety, depression, and worries we face.

    CalHOPE partnered with California Mental Health Services Association, which has a statewide experienced workforce comprised of peers, community mental health workers, and other non-licensed personnel. Individuals in need of emotional and/or crisis support can receive “visits” by phone, videoconference, or online live chat. Depending upon needs and situation, family and group support sessions are also available. Individuals may also be connected to county-based services. CalHOPE Connect offers culturally sensitive emotional support for the following populations:

  • Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health: FOR MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES AND SUPPORT, CALL 24/7 HELP LINE AT (800) 854-7771 The LACDMH Help Line serves as the primary entry point for mental health services with our department; services provided by our Help Line staff include:

    +Access Line for Service Referrals, Crisis Assessments and Field Deployments – available 24/7 (option 1 when calling the Help Line)

    • Mental health screening and assessment

    • Referral to a service provider

    • Crisis counseling

    • Mobilizing field response teams

    • Linkages to other services and resource

    +Emotional Support Warm Line with Trained Active Listeners – available 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily (option 2 when calling the Help Line)

    +Veteran Line for Mental Health Support and Connection to Veteran Programs – available 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily (option 3 when calling the Help Line)

    The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Disaster Distress Helpline provides crisis counseling and support to people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters.

  • Institute on Aging Friendship Line – 1-800-971-0016 - The Institute on Aging’s 24-hour, toll-free, Friendship Line is designed to support people the age of 60 and older and adults living with disabilities. Their trained volunteers specialize in active listening and friendly conversation with depressed older adults. It operates both as a crisis intervention hotline and a warm friendly voice for non-emergency emotional support calls. They provide emotional support, elder abuse reporting, well-being checks, grief support, suicide intervention, and resources and referrals for isolated adults.

  • The Samaritans HelpLine – 1-877-870-4673 The Samaritans HelpLine is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phone and text. They also offer online chats for those who prefer to use digital tools. They provide compassionate support to anyone who is feeling anxious and confused. Any adult feeling isolated, depressed, or suicidal can reach out anytime to Samaritans for support. It’s confidential and free to use.

    CSBs help people in Virginia with mental health, intellectual disability, and/or substance-use disorder needs.
