Family Therapy
Everyone is living such fast-paced lives that it’s hard to balance the needs of a family as a whole and the needs of the individuals within it. Keeping up with bills, work, social obligations, extended family, aging relatives, and deaths, as well as births and new members by relationship or marriage, it can be a lot to manage. With changes within the family as well as environmental changes that might be impacting the system, conflict can arise, children might exhibit new behavioral challenges, or you might just notice that your mood has shifted.
Whatever it is that you might be noticing, we can work through it. Together, we can work on getting things back on track or find a new path altogether. I help families of all life stages and development identify treatment goals that are centered in their values and unique needs. I gather a thorough history to understand relationship dynamics and family structure, and then support by creating a space in which all members have a safe space to express thoughts, feelings, and ideas. All voices are valuable in this collaborative process in which we explore how to establish or adjust boundaries and structure to ultimately improve communication, healthy cohesion, and a positive family narrative.
Therapy starts at 50 minutes per session, but can also be scheduled for 80 minutes depending on need, and weekly sessions are recommended. Sessions can be held either in person for clients in Los Angeles or via secure video appointments for clients in California, Virginia, Oregon, Maine, or Florida.
